His father was a priest
His mother was a nun
Growing up with religious restrictions,
denied him of any fun
Though it seems a little blasphemous,
it seems a little flawed
He isn't one for the Bible
but has a relationship with God
You'll find him drinkin' his liquor,
smokin' a cigarette or two
One thing you will never see
is him judging or discriminating you
A man of faith he is
but he doesn't let it show
His beliefs, he believes
is for himself to only know

The Sun Was Mine
A face in the mirror
Reflecting back the light
Time carves these lines
I try to believe you
While inside I die
I’m fading, dissolving again
The light in me is ending
Burns through my head
I’m fading, dissolving again
The light in me is ending, it’s over
We’ll wake up in the morning
Reaching out to the sky
Waking up, the sun is mine
Wake up in the morning
Today I can’t fall
As I set new fires alight
It’s in the mirror
I’ll hide my light
And drown my name
I try to believe you
While inside I die
I’m fading, dissolving again
The light in me is ending
Burns through my head
I’m fading,

diary of a psychologist: on hearts

next time you're alone with your lover,
look deep into their eyes
they might ask you what you're doing
and scrunch their brows
they might crinkle their nose
and tip their head
impatiently.
Tell them to wait.
watch the ribbons in their irises,
the milky muddle of color near the peripheries,
watch the little broken bridges of fibers
that once let the light walk right up to the pupils
and shrink them with a mischievous touch.
then, take their hand after a time
and hold it close to your chest
like you would the rest of them.
there is a phenomenon yet to be explained which occurs
when two people in love stare into each others eyes.

They traveled out east
at the edge of the sink
while the sun crept west
toward the soft harbor lights.
They dripped from the ceiling
like heavy-love dreams.
And hid from the moonlight
as she growled like the sea.
They spun 'round your fingers
and tusseled your hair.
Coiled on paper
and carried conversations…

There were always shadows here, darling.
Tired beautiful cold things that filled the bed.
Froze the sheets,
and threw open the windows.
They don't breathe in slumber
but nest like memories…
…
I think they loved you more than I did.

Celebrating NaPoWriMo: 30 Days of Inspiration!Hello everyone! I hope you all had a great April Fools Day and are looking forward to the weekend!
As some of you may know, April is National Poetry Writing Month (or in more familiar terms, "NaPoWriMo"). For poets and poetry-fans world-wide, this event is both an inspiration and a celebration of a genre we all hold near and dear to our hearts.
In honor of this, starting today (Friday April 1st) through Saturday April 30th, our admin will release 7 to 8 prompts each week to help inspire you throughout the month and get your creative writing thoughts going! You may complete as many or as little of the prompts as you like, though a special surprise awaits the writer(s) who finish all the prompts or submit the most pieces by the end of the month.
Submission acceptance will end on Sunday May 1st at 11:59 PM CST, so make sure you get those pieces in, folks!
Last but certainly not least, have fun everyone and happy NaPoWriMo!
